PRE-PRODUCTION

Some people shy away from love they know won't last and some people make the best of it knowing their time is limited. Which one are you? I wrote this song inspired by guy I dated one summer who was definitely the later. After that relationship I always thought it brave and good to be the one who makes the best of love, even when limited (or especially in his case). This song has one verse repeated. I cut out the second verse because I liked the first verse so much. I figured I'd rather repeat it than compete with it. Here are the lyrics:

(VERSE 1)I want days, weeks, three months with you. I want a summer long time with you. I want long heavenly walks with you. I want nights with you, I want mornings too. Baby, I'll unpack my bags, if you do the same with yours. Friends will come around to play, we won't lock any doors. And time will tell if this will stick, but if summer's all we have. Keep the key, when we're through, and vow not to be sad. For summer I'll take any day ... if summers all we have. If summer, if summers all we have.

(VERSE 2 CUT): I want lemonade with big ice cubes, sand, the beach, and "I love you's". I want time to stand still for us and our mail to read both names and such. ***Cute verse I think but I cut it anyway

Also, the word "kettle" got cut in the first verse. Originally, I had ..."keep the kettle, when we're through and vow not to be sad". However, while recording, the word "key" came out of my mouth instead of "kettle" and I realized, in that moment, that key was a much better choice. I also realized that getting in the studio MAKES you ready, even if it's literally split seconds before you have to be!

PRODUCTION

We recorded at Noah's Studio BLUE DOOR! Pretty much "live" with Ben on upright base, Ryan Anthony on drums, and Reid Riddidough on electric guitar. We ran it a few times and then I came back later and put vocals over our best take. I think this is my favorite process for recording. We'll see if I can pull it off for a few more.
